Neymar Jr. is staying put. The Brazilian star has reportedly agreed terms on a contract extension with Santos, to be officially announced before end of the week.
According to UOL, Santos president Marcelo Teixeira will meet with Neymar’s father on Tuesday to finalize the agreement.
The 33-year-old’s current contract expires on June 30, but both parties have now reached a consensus on a new deal that includes performance-based incentives tied to appearances and goals.
As part of the agreement, Santos will also settle the €13 million owed to Neymar in installments through December 2026, resolving a key financial sticking point.
Despite recent interest from Champions League clubs and Turkish side Fenerbahce, coached by José Mourinho, Neymar appears set to extend his second stint at his boyhood club.
Fenerbahce had identified Neymar as a marquee target after finishing second in the Turkish Super Lig last season.
Since his January return from Al-Hilal, Neymar has recorded three goals and three assists in 12 appearances for Santos.
Barring setbacks, he is expected to return to full training on Friday, likely under the terms of his new contract.
The veteran forward remains focused on staying injury-free, with one eye on the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has expressed confidence in Neymar, stating that he remains central to the national team’s plans and capable of playing anywhere across the pitch.
