Adults, at times, don’t truly understand the nuances of infidelity. For children, that rings true even moreso. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nia Long opened up about how the news of fiancée Ime Udoka’s affair was “devastating” for 11-year-old son, Kez.
When the news broke, Long stated that she “… went home to be with my son, and that was what was most important to me, because he was not having an easy time.”
Long continued saying that, “I think the most heartbreaking thing about all of this was seeing my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private situation public. It was devastating, and it still is. He still has moments where it’s not easy for him. If you’re in the business of protecting women — I’m sorry, no one from the Celtics organization has even called to see if I’m OK, to see if my children are OK. It’s very disappointing.”
A source said that “Nia’s main focus right now is her son. Her priority is making sure he’s okay and staying on his normal routine.”
As a result, the Boyz In The Hood actress is moving back to Los Angeles from Boston to resettle in a new home in the Golden State.
The 52-year-old mother said in an exclusive statement to People Magazine that, “The outpouring of love and support from family, friends and the community during this difficult time means so much to me.”
And of course, she has had scores of both men and women rallying around her to help protect her mental health and overall well-being.

“I literally felt like my heart had jumped out of my body,” she recalled to THR of the media blitz. “And then what I found was this tribe of women and men who were standing up for me in a way that felt like I was in this bubble of protection, and that was very comforting.”
Long is moving forward, continuing to focus on self and family as we all move into the new year. The actress has two new projects peeking in early 2023. The first, Missing, which is a sequel to the 2018 mystery thriller, Searching. The second, is a comedy entitled, You People, starring alongside Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Long is a mother of two. She is also mother to 22-year-old son Massai Dorsey II with whom she shares with actor Massai Dorsey.
