Nick Cannon says he’s making changes, not just for himself, but for his daughters.

While promoting his upcoming late-night show, the actor and TV host spoke with Extra about the lessons he’s learning as a father to five girls.

“When you have five daughters and you’re like, ‘All right, I at least want to be able to be true and honest,’” he said, “but like I can’t live the same life that I’ve always been living.”

Cannon said he’s trying to be more intentional these days, knowing his daughters are watching him. “Hopefully, my daughters learn from my mistakes and not date people like their dad,” he added.

The entertainer, who has 12 children with six women, also said that showing up for his kids is what matters most. 

“You can be present and have multiple relationships,” he explained. “We’re seeing so many different flavors of fatherhood now.”

Cannon shares twins Moroccan and Monroe with Mariah Carey; Golden Sagon, Powerful Queen, and Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell; Zion Mixolydian, Zillion Heir, and Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa; Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi; Onyx Ice Cole with LaNisha Cole; and Zen and Halo Marie with Alyssa Scott. Zen passed away in 2021 at five months old after being diagnosed with brain cancer.

Back in 2022, Cannon told The Checkup with Dr. Agus that managing time with all of his children remains one of his greatest challenges.

“Being a father of multiple kids, it’s always the biggest guilt on me is that I don’t get to spend enough time with all my children,” he said. “One ’cause I’m constantly working and two because I’m just spread thin.”
