Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni couldn’t contain his excitement following his team’s narrow 13-12 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, December 28. As he left the field, Sirianni didn’t shy away from expressing his enthusiasm towards the Bills’ fans.
Cameras captured the moment as Sirianni jubilantly celebrated before shouting, “There was a lot of talking by those Buffalo fans coming in. Not so much anymore!” He then echoed the sentiment to wide receiver A.J. Brown, emphasizing, “Not so much anymore!”
Despite holding the title of reigning Super Bowl champions, the Eagles have embraced the role of underdogs in 2025. Offensive tackle Jordan Mailata commented post-game that the team feels it hasn’t received the recognition it deserves.
The verbal exchanges between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs persisted up until the final moments of their eagerly awaited Super Bowl rematch. As the Eagles assumed the victory formation at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, September 14, Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones attempted to taunt Eagles running back Saquon Barkley for his lack of […]
“For me, perspective-wise, I just don’t like when we’re not considered a heavyweight, and we’re like, ‘Oh, you guys have to match them,’” he said, per The Athletic. “That pisses me off. I think we deserve a little respect. Just a little bit, a little consideration.”
Sirianni, 44, also defended his team, which won its second game in a row, albeit in less-than-impressive fashion.
“If you come out of a football game when you win on the road in a hostile environment … against a really good football team that’s had the sustained success we have, if you come out of this and you’re just thinking about all the negative things that happened, that makes for a miserable existence,” he said.
The Eagles gained only 16 yards in the second half of their win on Sunday after jumping out to a 13-0 lead, and had to rely on their defense to stifle quarterback Josh Allen and the Bills.
Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts had a quiet game, throwing for only 110 yards and completing less than half of his passes. It was the second game this season in which he did not complete a pass in the second half, and somehow, the Eagles won both games. Hurts, 27, told reporters that he doesn’t mind the team winning ugly, as long as the Eagles come out on top.
“I don’t think it’s a conservative thing to have good ball security and be mindful that the turnover margin directly correlates with winning,” he said. “That’s a truth of the game and that’s a well-known fact of how we’ve been able to play over the past five years.”
Their third straight win put the Eagles at 11-5 on the season, and with the NFC East division title already in hand, they are legit contenders to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
“You’ve got to feel pretty good,” Sirianni said. “Three-game winning streak. In this league, three-game winning streaks are hard. Winning 11 games is hard. Winning the division is hard. …We’ll see what we do. We’ll see what we do this upcoming week. I think there’s still an opportunity for us to get the 2 seed. But I thought it was pretty important for us to play in this particular game. Fortunately, we got through this [healthy].”
The Eagles will finish the regular season at home against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, January 4.
