Nicola Peltz has made a bizarre nod to father-in-law David Beckham as she sported a pair of his football shorts while out on her family’s superyacht.

The billionaire heiress, 30, was spotted aboard the luxury vessel with her husband Brooklyn, 26, and members of her family while holidaying in St Tropez this week.

Just days after she denied she is ‘controlling’ Brooklyn amid a bitter fallout with his family, Nicola slipped into a pair of the ex-England captain’s shorts.

For months, rumours have been swirling about what sparked the feud, with some suggesting that Nicola was at the centre. 

Last week, Nicola addressed the speculation after posting snaps with her family and Brooklyn celebrating her father Nelson’s 83rd birthday on the European getaway.

The celebratory photos were the latest blow for David and Victoria, after Brooklyn snubbed his own dad’s 50th birthday – with many flooding the comment section to accuse Nicola of being to blame.

Yet she hit back by ‘liking’ a fan’s comment that suggested Brooklyn had made his own decision. 

The comment read: ‘The fact people are in this comment section talking bs about someone controlling a GROWN man is absurd. The guy is an adult and can make his own decisions, leave them be and stop blaming women for everything.’

Despite an extensive designer wardrobe to choose from, Nicola wore the vintage England shorts rolled up around her waist, suggesting she had borrowed them from Brooklyn’s wardrobe.

The shorts were a replica of the pair Brooklyn’s famous father David wore during his 1996 debut for his national side against Moldova 29 years ago.

The couple were clearly keen to document the outfit, as Nicola was spotted posing up a storm while Brooklyn snapped pictures of her in the shorts. 

It is an interesting choice given reports of a feud between the couple and Brooklyn’s family, which have surfaced over the past few months.

Nicola teamed the shorts with a tight-fitting black vest top and a pair of platform flip flops, which she accessorised with shades and a straw bag.

The actress shared a picture of herself wearing the item of clothing on her Instagram story on Monday.

While Nicola soaked up the sun on the boat, Brooklyn was spotted larking about on the water on an E Foil, which is a watercraft that combines surfing, hydrofoiling and electric propulsion.

The sighting came just hours before Brooklyn’s sister Harper is due to celebrate her 14th birthday, with insiders claiming the family row may overshadow her day. 

The notable clothing choice may be a possible olive branch to the family ahead of the special family occasion following months of strife between them. 

It is currently unclear whether Brooklyn is planning to celebrate with his sibling on the day, despite the fact they have always had an unshakeable bond.

It marks the latest development in the ongoing feud narrative between the two families, which first began with Brooklyn and Nicola skipped David’s 50th birthday. 

Sources fear Harper could be ‘collateral damage’ should they fail to acknowledge her birthday celebration as the feud with her parents escalates. 

An insider told The Mirror: ‘Harper’s been particularly affected by what’s going on because she’s always been really close to Brooklyn.

‘They’ve always had a lovely bond because Brooklyn was that bit older when Harper was born and the hope when Brooklyn married Nicola was that she’d become like a big sister to Harper in a house full of brothers.

‘But obviously that hasn’t happened and it’s potentially going to be heartbreaking for Harper if Brooklyn doesn’t show up for her on her birthday.’

This week, Nicola has been sharing her families’ antics while onboard the lavish yacht on their European getaway. 

Nicola risked upsetting the Beckhams as she posted a series of gushing Instagram posts about her brothers.

She continued to publicly praise and share admiration for her billionaire family on social media amid her husband’s family feud.

She boasted about her brothers Brad, 35, and Zach, 18, and the rest of the Peltz-clan before sharing Brooklyn’s romantic gesture.

Nicola’s brothers include businessman Matthew, 40, Will, 39, former ice hockey player Darren (known as Diesel), 27 and twins Zachary and Gregory, 22. She also has a 31-year-old sister called Brittany, who is a children’s clothes designer. 

Meanwhile, Brooklyn surprised Nicola with a romantic candle-lit bedroom and fairy lights spread across their bed.

Gushing over Brooklyn following his extravagant act of service, she captioned the post: ‘@brooklynpeltzbeckham you’re my world’.

Nicola shared a video of Zach, writing: ‘I love annoying you’, before sharing an image of a flower gifted by brother Bradley across the caption: ‘I love you @bradleygpeltz thank you for my flower it’s the little things in life that are the big things.

Nicola also took to Instagram to share a series of photographs in which she gushed over her dad Nelson Peltz and joked that her Labubu dolls were her family.

She shared a snap of the coveted Pop Mart dolls in a row, captioning the snap: ‘our little family’, before posting another snap of one of the dolls, writing: ‘my mom just gets it.’ 

Nicola also shared a selfie on a yacht before rounding off her posts with a snap hugging her father that she captioned: ‘I love you so much dad’.

Amid his escalating feud with his family, the pair failed to publicly acknowledge David’s milestone 50th birthday on May 8. 

David and Victoria’s 26th wedding anniversary also passed without mention, despite the former Manchester United and England footballer referencing Brooklyn in his own post.

David previously thanked wife Victoria for their ‘beautiful children’ as the couple both acknowledged estranged son Brooklyn while celebrating their 26th wedding anniversary on July 4.

The former footballer who also shares sons Romeo, 20, and Cruz, 22 with the ex Spice Girl shared a series of throwback snaps of the family in happier times.

Declaring his love for Victoria, who he referred to as Lady Beckham following his Knighthood, he wrote: ’26 years today you said YES to me Happy Anniversary and thank you for giving me our beautiful children and building the life that we have together.’ 

He went on to tag his children including estranged son Brooklyn.
