Nicolas Cage and his wife, Riko Shibata, appeared on the red carpet Wednesday at the premiere of his latest film, Madden, held at The Culver Theater in Culver City, California.
The public appearance came just days after the Oscar-winning actor, 62, revealed that he is “currently a little bit homeless” following extensive damage to his Malibu mansion caused by a sinkhole less than two months ago.
Cage plays late football coach and broadcaster John Madden in the Prime Video film, directed by David O. Russell. For the premiere, he wore a black suit teamed with an orange patterned tie.
His brown hair was neatly styled, and he sported a beard as he held hands with Shibata. She wore her dark hair loose, with bangs framing her face.
Shibata, 31, who has been married to Cage since February 2021, chose a STAUD Esther Butterfly high-neck mini dress with brown pointed-toe slingback heels.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Cage for comment but has not yet received a response.

In a June interview with Deadline, Cage discussed the challenge of portraying Madden, a man he said is very different from him in terms of personality.
“I have nothing in common with John Madden, and that was the challenge,” Cage said. “But when we rehearsed, David tried to help me find the voice and I said to him, ‘It may not be anatomically possible, OK?’”
He continued: “So, I figured that maybe we’d just make a cocktail of the John Madden sound with a little of this and that and we’ll reintroduce something of my version of his voice.”
Cage spoke about his temporary living arrangements during an appearance at Los Angeles Comic Con on Saturday.
Asked about his Halloween plans, the actor replied that he was “currently a little bit homeless.”
The star of films including Face/Off and The Rock explained that “something happened to my house in Malibu so I’m just sort of living in hotels.”
In September, a sinkhole severely damaged the $10.5 million property after opening in front of the home and swallowing the driveway.
Page Six reported Monday that coastal erosion combined with powerful storms caused sections of the oceanfront residence to sink. Images from the scene showed a large hole in the mansion’s driveway.

Near the property’s enclosed garage, cracked sections of asphalt and concrete could be seen collapsing into the ground.
According to the outlet, Cage’s neighbors were evacuated because of the dangerous conditions created by the sinkhole.
The “hazardous conditions” resulted in seven homes on the same street being deemed unsafe to occupy. Officials also red-tagged another 24 residences because vehicles could no longer safely access the area, the outlet reported.

Malibu officials said on the city’s website that the designations followed “the loss of access for Fire and Sheriff’s personnel to respond to medical, fire or law enforcement emergencies.”
Local officials said “the collapse of a beachfront driveway extended into the roadway, blocking resident and emergency access.”
Cage reportedly took steps to protect the property in September, filing three permits with city officials days after the sinkhole emerged, including an emergency building permit, according to Page Six.
The other permits covered the removal of asphalt debris linked to the sinkhole ahead of shoring work, as well as excavation to collect soil samples. All three permits were approved.
Firefighters discovered the collapsed driveway in early September while responding to a suspected gas main break. The 30-foot-by-30-foot sinkhole also consumed a fence, a portable restroom and part of the neighboring street.

Should wealthy homeowners get special treatment when disaster strikes their luxury properties?
By October, the sinkhole appeared to have expanded beyond its original 30-foot-by-30-foot dimensions, spreading along the side of the house and nearing the front door, according to the outlet.
Cage bought the home for $10.5 million in 2024. The property now looks dramatically different from the luxury residence it once was.
The highly sought-after oceanfront property features a rooftop deck with a jacuzzi, expansive glass walls and several bedrooms.
The residence also includes access to a secluded beach, a chef’s kitchen and a garage equipped with elevator access.
The home was built in the 1990s by the late Jose Liberman, co-founder of Liberman Broadcasting. It remained in his family until Cage purchased it.
Cage was born Nicolas Kim Coppola. He is the son of the late American academic and author August Coppola, and the nephew of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola and actress Talia Shire.

Over a career spanning decades, Cage has built an acclaimed filmography with roles in Moonstruck, Raising Arizona, Gone in 60 Seconds and National Treasure. He won an Academy Award for his performance in Leaving Las Vegas.
Cage married Shibata in 2021, marking his fifth trip down the aisle. The couple welcomed their daughter, August Francesca, in 2022.
He is also the father of sons Kal-El, 21, with ex-wife Kim, and Weston, 35, with former girlfriend Christina Fulton.
