Nicole Curtis, the host of the popular home renovation show Rehab Addict, has come under fire after HGTV decided to pull all episodes of the series from its platforms.
The controversy erupted on February 11 when RadarOnline released footage of the 49-year-old host using a racial slur during the filming of a renovation project for the show. Although the offensive language was captured on camera, it was not aired in the episode that originally broadcast in June 2025, according to RadarOnline.
In response, HGTV, which is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, swiftly cancelled the upcoming episodes of Rehab Addict that were scheduled for release and removed previous episodes from streaming services HBO Max and Discovery+.
In a statement to Us Weekly, HGTV addressed the situation, saying, “HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict. Such language is not only harmful and disappointing to our audience, partners, and employees, but it also contradicts the core values of HGTV. As a result, we have decided to remove the series from all HGTV platforms. We are committed to promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity both in our content and our workplace.”
After news broke of the show’s cancelation, Curtis posted to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, “There is more to this, but my family comes first and I need to be mom right now more than anything else. .. I will take the time to be as I’ve always been with you, transparent and honest. TMZ called me as I had just turned my phone on after being at school – I said this briefly – but there is more…”
In a subsequent Instagram Story, Curtis shared a text message exchange with TMZ in which she addressed her use of the racial slur and Rehab Addict’s abrupt cancelation.
“Regarding HGTV, I’m grateful for the 15-year journey we’ve shared. It’s been a meaningful chapter, but my focus isn’t on my career,” she wrote to a TMZ reporter. “My focus, at this moment, is rightfully on my relationships and my community – the people who truly know my character and where my heart is.”
Curtis continued, “I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone.”

“As discussed, I’m a mom and I was doing mom things all day and unplugged,” Curtis concluded. “I realize my shows were airing, but my family is my priority and I’m just catching up to all this now.”
In resurfaced footage from the set of Rehab Addict, published by RadarOnline on Wednesday, Curtis was filmed using the n-word while completing a renovation in Wyoming.
“Why? It’s the last one,” she said in the clip as she appeared to struggle with the renovation. “Oh, fart [n-word].”
Curtis appeared shocked by her use of the slur and asked the camera crew to delete the footage.
“What the f*** is that I just said?” she said. “Can you kill that?” she asked as someone in the background appeared to laugh.
Curtis then said, “F*** my life.”
Rehab Addict first premiered in 2010 on the DIY Network (now known as the Magnolia Network) before moving to HGTV for its fourth season in 2014.
