A Nigerian woman’s emotional appeal to leave her homeland has captured widespread attention as her passport’s expiration looms.
In a poignant video posted by @yabaleftonline on X (previously known as Twitter), she candidly voiced her discontent with the challenges of life in Nigeria, expressing fatigue from the relentless daily grind.
“Is there anyone who can help me leave this country? I feel exhausted; this place isn’t meant for me. My passport is about to expire, and I’m weary of renewing it every five years. I’m not without skills—I have much to offer.”
She emphasized her willingness to take on any role and make significant contributions, provided it is outside Nigeria.
“I can be your personal driver, cook, or chef. I can serve as your personal assistant, carrying your bag everywhere—it doesn’t bother me. I can cut hair, style it, and do nails. I’m just tired of this country. I’ll do anything as long as it’s elsewhere.”
Her emotional plea quickly captured the attention of social media users, with reactions pouring in. One commentator wrote, “I felt her pain, Nigeria don tire everybody.” Another added, “This country is draining… I don’t blame her at all.”
The video has since generated broader conversations about the pressures of living in Nigeria, the desire to migrate (japa), and the emotional toll of daily life in the country.
