Nollywood star and businesswoman, Nkechi Blessing, recently opened up about a disappointing dating experience, highlighting what she sees as a prime example of a man’s failure to step up when it truly counts.
In a widely circulated video, she recounted how a man she had been conversing with from the UK reached out to question her sudden silence. Unbeknownst to him, she had just been involved in a minor car accident that left two of her tyres damaged.
Nkechi detailed that upon explaining the incident to him, his response was simply to inquire about her wellbeing before quickly ending the conversation.
She expressed her surprise at his reaction, expecting someone who professed interest in her to demonstrate genuine concern instead of disappearing when she was facing a challenging situation.
Nkechi clarified that she did not seek financial assistance from him, pointing out that she managed to repair the tyres on her own.
When he returned hours later to ask if the issue had been resolved, she simply told him she had already bought two new tyres.
She further stated that she can no longer date a man who expects her to buy an expensive flight ticket to London with a promise of reimbursement upon arrival, saying she has outgrown such dynamics.
The actress compared the man’s behaviour to that of a male friend in Abuja who, upon hearing she would be visiting for work, immediately offered to handle her hotel arrangements. Even when she insisted on paying, he refused, which she described as a true display of effort.
Her story has since sparked a wave of online reactions, with many supporting her insistence on effort in relationships, while others accused her of being too entitled.
