Kardashian-West fans sounded the alarm after noticing North West’s finger piercing

Kim Kardashian and North West recently captivated attention during a stylish getaway to Rome. On Aug. 24, 2025, the duo was spotted leaving Pierluigi Restaurant, with North making a bold statement in a goth-inspired ensemble. She wore steampunk-style platform boots from the VETEMENTS x New Rock collaboration, a black corset with a detachable collar, and a dual-tone ruffled skirt. Her look was completed with ombré blue hair styled into low pigtails, burgundy lip liner, and accessories. She paired the look with Chrome Hearts glasses, layered silver jewelry, and a heart-shaped Vivienne Westwood bag.

West is turning heads with her style. But fans also noticed that she appeared to sport a dermal piercing in her middle finger. The piercing lies flat against her finger and could pose issues for the pre-teen due to its vulnerable location.

Several Kardashian-West followers on Reddit commented on their reservations about the piercing, especially given North’s age.

“Surface piercings are notoriously hard to heal,” a fan wrote. “I can’t imagine that getting one on one of the dirtiest and most used parts of the body is a great idea.”

“That’s going to be impossible to heal …,” yet another fan commented.

Another fan noted that the piercing might not be real.

“They can’t be THAT psycho to let her have a finger piercing,” the fan guessed. “It’s probably an adjustable ring thing from the Henna shop that’s too tight, so it’s red. She had [a] fake lip [piercing] and nose rings before, too. I feel someone in her family would have stopped a piercing of a 12-year-old.”

Some fans think the dermal piercing is already infected

Fans on Reddit suggested that North West’s dermal finger piercing might already have issues. Dermal piercings are generally harder to heal than traditional piercings because they involve embedding an anchor beneath the skin, rather than passing a piece of jewelry through a natural body opening. This creates a small pocket in the tissue that the body treats as a wound. This makes it more prone to irritation, infection, and rejection.

Unlike ear or nose piercings, dermals have a single point of entry but no exit, which means drainage and airflow are limited, slowing the natural healing process. Movement, pressure, or friction on the area can also disturb the tissue, increasing the risk of complications.

“Pretty sure it’s infected in this pic,” a fan commented on Reddit after seeing North’s red and raised finger.

In July 2022, Kim Kardashian and North West made a striking fashion statement during Paris Fashion Week by wearing matching nose rings. The duo attended the Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2022/2023 show on July 6, where they sported silver nose ring chains that connected to their earrings and draped across their chests like necklaces, according to Page Six. Their coordinated outfits featured black and gray pinstriped ensembles. North wore a vest and skirt combo with a black tie and chunky combat boots, and Kardashian donned a maxi dress with metallic accessories.

Given this look, fans shouldn’t be too surprised to see Kardashian allowing her daughter to sport a unique piercing as a preteen. However, this also gives credence to the idea that the dermal may not be real. Only time will tell.
