Kim Kardashian’s daughter, North West, recently showered her mother with affection in a heartfelt birthday tribute, adding to the ongoing family love from the Kardashian/Jenner clan.

The 12-year-old took to TikTok to honor her mom, the star of The Kardashians, on her 45th birthday. She posted an endearing selfie of the duo enjoying the outdoors. In the snapshot, North flashes a peace sign while she and Kim strike playful pouts for the camera.

Accompanying the photo, North penned a touching message: “Happy birthday to my mom. I love you so much and hope you have the best birthday ever. Thank you for always being there for me and supporting me.”

The 45-year-old celebrity, who shares North along with siblings Saint, Chicago, and Psalm with ex-husband Kanye West, has been open about her strong connection with her eldest daughter. Lately, this bond has become more visible as North begins to embrace her unique style and individuality.

Earlier this month, Kardashian appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where she discussed with host Alex Cooper the challenges of motherhood in the spotlight and expressed her pride in North’s self-assuredness and individuality.

“She’s really mature in one sense where she’ll be like, ‘Mom, I saw this and I don’t really care that they don’t like… my blue hair or this or that. She’s really confident and is like, ‘I probably wouldn’t be hanging out with those people.’”

The SKIMS founder also acknowledged that she’s still learning as a parent, especially when it comes to the internet’s scrutiny of North’s fashion choices, like the dermal piercing her daughter wore on a trip to Rome that stirred up debate online.

“I’m like, okay, we’re never wearing that again. Unfortunately, we made that mistake in front of the whole world,” the mother-of-four admitted. “As a mom, you’re kind of like learning at the same time.”

While critics have their opinions, Kardashian said she’s grateful that North stays grounded and authentic.

“She teaches me a lot. So she has a really unique style. She puts me on to so many brands, like she just loves what she loves,” Kim said. “And it’s just really fun to see someone be so creative. And also know herself so much.”

That self-awareness, the proud mom explained, even shows up in North’s wardrobe decisions.

“All of her friends were getting really girly outfits, and she tried it with me once. And she wore something that was really girly,” Kim recalled. “And she was like, ‘Whoa, wait, this isn’t me. I just get that I love dressing a little bit more tomboy-ish.’ And she loves her T-shirts and her jerseys and her jorts.”

Kim continued, “She tried it for a good week, to be like, girly or wear what the kids, you know, her friends were wearing. And then she realized quick, like, ‘This isn’t me,’ and I love that for her.”
