The Kardashian family has never held back when it comes to Halloween, and Kim Kardashian is known for creating especially elaborate costumes. This year, she took inspiration from her 13-year-old daughter, North West, by dressing up as her. Kim believed she had perfectly captured North’s look—but North had a few suggestions.

On Oct. 20, Kim shared her Halloween costume on Instagram, posting 18 photos that showcased her transformation into North. She copied the teenager’s ice-blue hair and signature style, wearing a graphic black T-shirt, spiked stiletto nails, black high-top sneakers and faux facial piercings. Kim completed the look with black grills and North’s diamond skull pendant. In one photo, she covered her mouth with her hand—a pose North frequently strikes in her own pictures.
Fans were amazed by the resemblance. Several commenters said Kim and North could pass for twins, while one suggested that North had “directed this shot.” Although the finished costume looked exactly the way Kim had hoped, she later revealed that getting it right took more than one attempt.

Kim’s North West costume ultimately came together, as her Instagram photos showed. However, the All’s Fair star recently acknowledged that the look was a collaborative effort—and that her daughter offered plenty of honest feedback. During the Nov. 2 Season 2 premiere of All’s Fair, Kim told Entertainment Tonight that dressing as North had actually been her daughter’s idea. Even so, the first version needed a little work.

“I thought I was killing it and I was, like, fully ready,” Kim said. But North quickly identified several problems when she saw the initial outfit. “No, no, no,” Kim recalled her daughter saying, before North added, “I would never wear that skirt” and “Where did you get those lashes?” North did more than critique the costume—she took charge of the makeover. “She redid it for me and made it amazing and perfect,” Kim told the outlet.

Despite North’s revisions, Kim has a long history of taking Halloween costumes seriously. In her earlier years, she opted for classic characters, including a flapper, Wonder Woman and Poison Ivy. In 2015, she poked fun at herself by wearing a much-criticized Met Gala gown again and announcing that she had “nailed the Kim K costume.”
Kim has also portrayed Cher and a Victoria’s Secret Angel, and in 2022 she transformed into Mystique from X-Men. With four children, she now has plenty of company for her Halloween looks. Kim and North dressed as bugs in 2019 before recreating Cher and Dionne from Clueless in 2023. Some costumes, including North’s “baddies” look, have sparked controversy. For now, fans will have to wait and see what Kim creates next.
