The highly anticipated 17th edition of The Headies, Nigeria’s premier music award show, has set the entertainment industry abuzz with its recently announced nominations.

Topping the list is genre-defying rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, who dominates this year’s nominations with an impressive five nods. Following closely behind are Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr and street-hop star Shallipopi, each securing three nominations.

Odumodublvck’s versatility shines through, particularly in the highly competitive Best Collaboration category, where he is nominated twice, competing against industry heavyweights such as Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Zlatan, Asa, and Chike.

One of the most emotional moments in this year’s nominations is the posthumous recognition of Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. Despite his untimely passing on September 12, 2023, his music continues to make waves, earning him three nominations.

As always, The Headies continues to celebrate excellence in Nigerian music, unveiling a lineup of fiercely contested categories, including Producer of the Year, Best Recording of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Best R&B Single, Rookie of the Year, Best Rap Single, Best Vocal Performance (Female), Music Video of the Year, and Best Collaboration.

With the nominations setting the stage for an intense competition, music lovers eagerly await the grand event, where the best of Nigerian music will be honored.
