When it comes to fatherhood, Offset credits one person for helping him set the standard, his mom.

The 33-year-old rapper recently appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show, where he opened up about the parenting values that guide him as a dad of six. The lesson that stuck most came straight from home.

“My mom influenced me with raising my kids is just like discipline,” he told Hudson. “First off, like when it comes to schooling — not like physical, no — but like when it comes to like schooling and helping my kids understand how important it is. Nothing is going to be given to you.”

For Offset, structure and respect are key, even as his children grow up in a very different world than the one he did. “My kids … have a higher lifestyle. So, I help them understand, especially my boys, though, that it’s still going to be a challenging time for you no matter where you go and to always represent us when you’re going,” he shared.

The Migos rapper shares three children with Cardi B: daughter Blossom, 13 months, son Wave, 4, and daughter Kulture, 7. He’s also dad to sons Kody Cephus, 10, and Jordan Cephus, 15, and daughter Kalea Marie Cephus, 9, from previous relationships.

Offset recently celebrated Kody’s 10th birthday with a poolside family party that showed how tight-knit the Cephus clan really is. In photos shared to Instagram, Kulture cheered on her sister Kalea’s dance moves before showing off her own split by the pool, while Wave lounged nearby, Hulk gloves in hand. One clip captured the birthday boy holding his younger brother just before blowing out his birthday cake candles.

Fatherhood hasn’t always been an easy road for Offset. In a 2019 Haute Living cover story, he reflected on what it was like becoming a dad at 17. “The journey of fatherhood was kind of tough for me at first,” he said. “I was trying to find myself. I didn’t have much direction on what it meant to be a father.”

He admitted that while there were challenges, the lessons came with growth. “I definitely made some mistakes, but I have no regrets,” he continued. “It’s challenging when you have a career like this and you’re constantly on the road. It makes it tough to see your kids, especially when they’re young. Now that I’m older, though, I’m learning my way.”
