Behind Broadchurch, The IT Crowd and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway were the evening’s next biggest winners, with each programme taking home two awards.
Katherine Parkinson won Best Actress in a Comedy for her long-running performance in the Channel Four sitcom, which also stars Chris O’Dowd and Richard Ayoade.

She thanked her co-stars for always giving her the largest dressing room, then joked that it had taken her so long to reach the stage because she was carrying two.
Richard Ayoade also won Best Actor in a Comedy. “I didn’t think I would have to say I’d like to thank the Academy outside of my fan letters to Fame Academy,” he joked.
‘If I haven’t thanked you it’s because they cut it. But crucially, I liked to thank my wife for more than everything, so I’d like to leave with less dignity than I came up with.’

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will have to make room on their mantlepiece as they took home the TV BAFTA for Best Entertainment programme.
The Geordie duo were up against Charlie Brooker’s 10 O’Clock Live, Sarah Millican’s The Sarah Millican Television Programme and the evening’s host Graham Norton’s Friday night chat show.
They also took home the Best Entertainment Performance award.

Speaking about the difference between winning a BAFTA compared to other awards, Dec said: ‘I’m not sure it means more [because it’s voted by peers]. It’s means something in a different way. People in the industry have realised the effort that goes into the show.’
Coronation Street won their 10th BAFTA in the Soap & Continuing drama category and the award was collected by cast members past and present including, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Samia Ghadie, David Neilson, Kate Ford and Jane Danson.

He thanked creator Vince Gilligan the cast and the Breaking Bad ‘family’.
Earlier in the night, Aaron had presented James Corden and Jamie Redknapp with the Best Comedy and Comedy Entertainment Programme Award.

Of course Cilla Black won the Special Award for her services to television and entertainment over the last fifty years. She was presented the honour by Paul O’Grady and received a standing ovation.
‘I’ve led a charmed life. I’ve worked with incredible people,’ Cilla said. ‘I started in television in black and white.
She added: ‘I have to say a very big thank you to Graham Norton and Paul [O’Grady] for looking after me. And thank you to the viewers for making me feel so welcome and for loving my shows over the years. This is for you.’
