Legendary ballerina Misty Copeland confirms she’ll be performing at the Oscars after saying Timothee Chalamet ‘wouldn’t be an actor’ if it wasn’t for ‘opera and ballet’
Renowned ballerina Misty Copeland has announced her participation in this year’s Oscars, following her critique of nominee Timothee Chalamet’s recent comments suggesting that “no one cares” about ballet or opera.
At 43, Copeland is set to captivate audiences with a live performance alongside Sinners stars Miles Caton and Raphael Saadiq. They will perform the film’s track “I Lied to You” during the event on Sunday. Meanwhile, Timothee Chalamet is anticipated to be in attendance, having secured a Best Actor nomination for his role in “Marty Supreme.”
Chalamet found himself at the center of controversy after making remarks that have ignited a wave of backlash. During an hour-long session at a Variety/CNN Town Hall, he expressed his disinterest in working within ballet or opera, stating, “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera. Things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore.’”
