Paige DeSorbo is putting the rumors surrounding her split from Craig Conover to bed.
On Monday’s (Feb. 3) episode of her Giggly Squad podcast, the Summer House star broke her silence on the false claims that she cheated on Conover, which started when she was seen with Joe D’Amelio at an Eagles game shortly after she announced their breakup.
“I’m saying this here and now and then I’m never saying it again,” she said, before adding, “In the three years that I dated my ex-boyfriend, I never physically cheated on him, emotionally cheated on him — can you mentally cheat on someone? I don’t know, but I didn’t.”
DeSorbo also let listeners know that she didn’t “blindside” the Southern Charm star by ending their relationship right before the holidays, noting that they actually broke up over Thanksgiving weekend. But according to DeSorbo, Conover went on to do Southern Charm press “acting as if we were still together.”
“I said that he could do that, he was processing in his own way,” she explained.
It wasn’t until he was “presenting himself as single” on a trip over Christmas that she decided to reveal their status.
“I said, ‘Oh, here we go, we’re ready to announce,’” DeSorbo recalled. “I then texted him and said — whilst he was on this trip — and said, ‘I’m going to say something on Giggly Squad, and we can both start moving forward.’”
DeSorbo said her text went “unanswered” — and while she asked Conover to shut down the cheating rumors that started shortly after the podcast episode aired, he told her he did not want to talk about the breakup publicly.
“The narrative just took a turn really quickly. That I had cheated, that I broke up with him, like, a week ago and moved on with some new guy,” she said. “Let me say this here and now. I did not move on with some new guy. I’m single. I don’t have a new boyfriend. I did not cheat on my ex-boyfriend. And it was a full month that we were broken up and I didn’t say anything.”
Noting that it’s now been two months since they broke things off, DeSorbo concluded, “Nothing happened that was nefarious or like cheating. There’s not some big rumor that’s gonna come out. Now, it’s time to fucking giggle.”
DECIDER has reached out to Conover’s reps for comment, but did not hear back by the time of publication.
