Chicago’s fictional law enforcement team is temporarily short-staffed.

Actor Patrick John Flueger, who plays Officer Adam Ruzek on Chicago P.D., is taking a break from filming the show’s 13th season, according to multiple reports.

His sudden leave is attributed to a personal matter, though specifics have not been disclosed. Flueger is anticipated to return later in the season.

Efforts by E! News to get comments from Patrick’s representatives and NBC have so far been unsuccessful.

Flueger has been a part of the NBC drama since it premiered in 2014, with his character becoming a key member of the intelligence unit. Fans have watched as his relationship with fellow officer Kim Burgess, played by Marina Squerciati, evolved from a friendship into a tumultuous romance, culminating in their wedding at the end of season 12.

The onscreen couple also share daughter Makayla, whom they adopted during season 8.
