£50,000 Star Wars prop featured on hit show
A Star Wars original TIE Fighter helmet brought by a super fan was featured on the Antiques Roadshow.
The participant told Fiona that the authentic TIE-Fighter prop, which stands for twin ion engines, was used in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
He also revealed that only 12 helmets were made for the first film, which he had brought onto the show.
As a self-proclaimed Star Wars fan, he enthusiastically told the story of how he got the item so passionately.
He explained how he collects other film memorabilia like batarangs from Batman and Walther PPK’s from Bond films.

The super-fan said: “But, my true passion is Star Wars, so I spent many years travelling all over the world speaking to crew members, cast and going to prop and rental houses just trying to find these things.”
He continued: “This particular piece was buried in the attic with one of the senior crew members on the film, it was gifted at the end of the film.”
Host Fiona told the self-proclaimed Star Wars fan that it would be difficult to give a firm evaluation on his item.
“But, having spoken to our experts, they reckon £40,000 to £50,000 for this bit of plastic?,” Fiona declared.
