It’s time to revisit the streets of memory lane with Arthur.
The beloved PBS Kids animated series about the world’s favorite anthropomorphic brown aardvark is marking its 30th anniversary.
And no, you don’t need D.W. to verify the news: Arthur first premiered on PBS Kids in October 1996. To celebrate three decades on the air, PBS Kids will air a marathon of fan-favorite episodes on Nov. 7 and 8.

“30 years ago, we premiered on @PBSKIDS, and it’s been a wonderful kind of time since,” the show’s official Instagram account shared while reflecting on its enduring legacy. “Thank you for letting us into your homes and communities. Here’s to future generations learning to believe in themselves, work together, and make things better!”
Based on Marc Brown’s Arthur Adventure children’s book series, the sitcom followed Arthur Read, his best friend Buster, his sister D.W. and a memorable cast of characters through their adventures in Elwood City.
Although it was designed for children, Arthur tackled far more than homework and playground disagreements. Across its run, the series explored the challenges of growing up, family relationships, mental health and—naturally—the importance of having a library card.
