Peter Obi, the presidential hopeful from the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has vowed to tackle insecurity head-on if he wins the presidency. He emphasized that it is crucial for Nigeria to regain full control from criminal elements.
During an interview with broadcaster Rufai Oseni, Obi was questioned about his plans to address the ongoing abductions of school children, educators, and other citizens throughout the nation.
Obi responded by asserting that a country cannot have terrorists vying with the government for dominance; one must be the clear authority.
Drawing from his experience as the governor of Anambra, he highlighted his proactive measures against insecurity, which helped create a challenging environment for kidnappers and other criminals in the state.
Obi underscored that effective leadership demands urgency and dedication, assuring that he would promptly return to Nigeria to tackle any significant security issues impacting the nation.
Obi also reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria, stating that despite spending years abroad, he never sought citizenship elsewhere and has remained devoted to the country.

Mr. Peter Obi said: “If I am President today, it is either the terrørists are in charge of the country or I am in charge—one person must be in charge or we declare w@r on insecurity.
Go and ask about my record when I was Governor. I confrønted insecurity head-on. Even notørious kidnappers like Evans and many others could not operate in Anambra and were forced to flee. If I am outside the country and there is a crisis at home, I will return immediately. I am ready to d!e for Nigeria. I lived abroad for years, yet I never considered obtaining a foreign passport. I have only one passport—the Nigerian passport.”
