Piper Rockelle is a 17-year-old influencer known by millions for sharing a mix of lifestyle and comedic content on social media. But the teenager’s life has reached an even wider audience than ever before as the subject of the chilling new Netflix documentary series Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing, which sheds light on her momager’s questionable tactics and toxic behavior behind the scenes that led to a massive lawsuit in 2022.

Rockelle built a massive YouTube following of 12.1 million subscribers, thanks in part to the sprawling cast of kid influencers who her mother, Tiffany Smith, recruited as collaborators. Known as The Squad, these content creators — which included Sophie Fergi, Lev Cameron, and more — worked on elaborate skits and orchestrated lifestyle content in which they posed as Rockelle’s friends and love interests. But not everything was as bright and cheery as Rockelle’s content would lead you to believe.

Many past members of The Squad claim they faced retaliation for raising issues about their working conditions. In addition to alleged instances of emotional and physical abuse, Smith was also accused of sexual harassment. This was all detailed in the three-part documentary series and in the 2022 lawsuit filed by 11 former Squad members, which was soon settled when both parties reached a $1.85 million lawsuit.

“I think it’s really important to know that Piper is a victim here,” co-director director Kief Davidson says in the documentary. “Universally, every single one of the families that we spoke with looks at [it that way].”

Here’s what we know about Rockelle now.

Where is Piper Rockelle now?

Rockelle is still sharing new content on her social media, where she has a reach of almost 33 million followers across Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Her YouTube was demonetized after the allegations were raised against her mother.

In addition to influencing, she also describes herself as an actress and dancer, according to her Instagram biography. She is also a singer and releases original music.

Ahead of the documentary’s release on Netflix, Rockelle issued a response to the accusations levied against her mother.

“Honestly, I just want to move on from all of this because it’s really painful to deal with every day. And not surprisingly, my mental health has suffered more than anyone knows,” she said in a statement to USA Today, adding that the accusations are “mean, untrue, and honestly all about money. My mom did not do any of those things that they said. And I’ll stand by my mom to the end.”

All three parts of Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing are now streaming on Netflix.
