A police officer in Anambra has been caught on camera allegedly attempting to force his way into a man’s house without a search warrant, accusing the occupant of being a cultist and later collecting ₦1 million as a bribe.

The incident was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by a well-known Nigerian activist, Harrison, who narrated the events in the accompanying video.

According to Harrison, the officer did not initially identify himself as a member of the police force while trying to break into the house.

However, when the man he accused of being a cultist began recording the encounter and captured his face, the officer quickly brought out his ID card and revealed his identity.

In the footage, the officer can be heard saying, “We’re policemen, you’re a cultist,” while attempting to enter the premises.

Harrison confronted him, saying: “You see yourself? You wan jump enter person house without uniform. If by my house you come I go comot your hand.”

“How do you go into people’s houses without identifying yourself? Because you now see camera on your face, you now say you’re a police officer. After everything, you still collected ₦1 million.”

Harrison further accused the officer of extortion, stating: “Na robbery you go, na stealing. You went to steal from the man’s house. After the money you collected, you exonerated him from the crime you claimed he committed. You’re a disgrace to the Nigeria Police Force.”

The video has sparked outrage online, with many users flooding the comment section to express their anger over the alleged misconduct.
