Habeeb Okikiola, better known to many as the spirited Nigerian street-hop artist Portable, is making headlines again, but this time for an unexpected reason. The musician, who shot to fame with his hit track “Zazuu Zeh,” has recently expressed a desire to return to school, despite already enjoying considerable success in his career.

In a heartfelt video shared with his followers on Instagram, Portable opened up about his motivation to further his education. He articulated a profound appreciation for the value of learning, emphasizing how it could enhance his professionalism and enable him to manage his burgeoning career with greater acumen.

Beyond personal growth, Portable mentioned another compelling reason for his educational aspirations: setting a positive example for his children. By pursuing further education, he hopes to inspire them to value and prioritize their academic pursuits.

Interestingly, Portable is no stranger to academia. He disclosed that he holds an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from Kwara State Polytechnic, although he never collected the certificate upon completing the program. This revelation adds a layer of authenticity to his current educational ambitions, highlighting his longstanding appreciation for academic achievement.

Education for Growth and Good Example

Portable revealed that he already holds an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) from Kwara State Polytechnic but never collected his certificate after completing the programme.

He stated that his decision to continue his studies was inspired by his desire to grow intellectually and earn respect in society.

According to him, despite his fame, education remains important for personal development and better communication within the industry.

In his words: “I wan go back to school. I want to finish my education. I dey sponsor people’s children and my own children too. I don’t want my children to be mocked that their father is illiterate.

“I wan go back to school so that I will be able to manage my music career better, and it will also help in my dealings with people.”
