Chelsea showcased their dominance with a commanding 3-0 victory over Wolves at Stamford Bridge. This triumph propelled them into second place, narrowing Arsenal’s lead at the top to just six points.
Wolves endured another difficult night, suffering their ninth defeat out of eleven matches. They remain anchored at the bottom of the Premier League with only two points to their name.
The Blues controlled the game from the outset, thanks to an exceptional performance by Enzo Fernández. He orchestrated the midfield with precision, contributing significantly to almost every key attack.
Fernández pulls the strings early on
Chelsea started with intensity, immediately putting pressure on the visitors. In the third minute, Fernández’s expertly executed free-kick tested Sam Johnstone, setting the stage for the match’s proceedings.
Soon after, the Argentine maestro delivered a perfect through ball to Alejandro Garnacho. However, the young winger couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity.
Fernández nearly grabbed a goal himself with a spectacular corner that almost turned into an Olimpico, only for Toti Gomes to clear off the line. Wolves struggled to gain any possession as Chelsea’s midfield dominated proceedings.
Garnacho inspires the breakthrough
The breakthrough finally came early in the second half. Garnacho, who had been Chelsea’s liveliest attacker, cut inside on his right foot and delivered an inch-perfect cross for Malo Gusto, who headed home his first senior goal for the club.
Chelsea’s pressure continued to mount, and substitute Estevão made an instant impact. Within a minute of his introduction, his low cross deflected kindly into the path of João Pedro, who coolly doubled the advantage from close range.
Ruthless finish from a resurgent Chelsea
Garnacho capped his outstanding night with another decisive contribution, sprinting past two defenders before squaring the ball for Pedro Neto to finish off the scoring. Neto’s goal, his third of the league campaign, sealed a dominant performance.
Marc Guiu missed a couple of late chances to extend the scoreline, but the damage was already done.
