On Monday, CBS shared the first photos from the series premiere of Boston Blue. The much-anticipated Blue Bloods spinoff series debuts Friday, October 17.
Danny Reagan teams up with Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green) in ‘Blue Bloods’ spinoff
In Boston Blue, longtime NYPD detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) trades the Big Apple for Beantown when he takes a job with the Boston police department. He’s paired with Detective Lena Silver (Sonqua Martin-Green), the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family. As he settles into his new role, he also works to reconnect with his son, Sean, who is embarking on his own career in Boston.
In the premiere, Danny and Lena work together to investigate a deadly fire at a tech company. As the new partners dig deeper, they uncover a complex web of secrets involving facial recognition technology, family ties, and a search for justice that brings the Silver and Reagan families closer together.
‘Boston Blue’ also stars Ernie Hudson and Maggie Lawson
Photos from the first episode of Boston Blue offer more hints of what to expect from the new show. One shows members of the Silver family gathered around the table for a meal, suggesting that Blue Bloods’ family dinners will live on. Another offers the first look at the new Sean Reagan. The character was played by Andrew Terraciano on Blue Bloods but will be portrayed by Mika Amonsen in Boston Blue.
Other Boston Blue cast members include Gloria Reuben as Boston district attorney Mae Silver, Maggie Lawson as police superintendent Sarah Silver, Marcus Scribner as rookie cop Jonah Silver, and Ernie Hudson as renowned Baptist pastor Reverend Edwin Peters.
Blue Bloods fans can also look forward to the return of another familiar face in the Boston Blue premiere. Bridget Moynahan will reprise her role as Danny’s sister Erin Reagan in the first episode.
On social media, Wahlberg has been eagerly counting down the days until the Boston Blue premiere.
“From Brooklyn to Beantown — Only nine more Fridays til Boston Blue begins!” he wrote in an August 15 Instagram post. “Friday October 17th at 10pm! So excited to share what we’ve been cooking up! Let’s go!:
Boston Blue premieres Friday, October 17 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. Episodes also stream on Paramount+.
