In 2020, they took a major step when they removed themselves from the royal family’s payroll and opted to build a new life in the United States.
Ever since stepping down, Harry and Meghan have been subject to rumors about their marriage. The two have always proven their relationship is strong, but recent rumors have reportedly left the couple “sickened” by what people are willing to say about them.

Harry and Meghan know who they are to each other; they’ve proven time and again that they aren’t going anywhere. Still, people insist on sparking unnecessary negative conversation about their marriage, and it’s no surprise that some rumors can be pretty upsetting.
In early 2025, internet rumors swirled that suggested Netflix could be holding onto their deal with Meghan just in case her marriage to Harry ever went south. According to Express, the rumors first started when podcast hosts Marina Hyde and Richard Osman suggested that Netflix “might keep a vague hand in” because of the attention Meghan would receive if a divorce ever happened. And a source close to Harry and Meghan says the two absolutely hate the rumor.
“The idea that Netflix, or anyone else they [Harry and Meghan] are working with, is just biding their time and waiting for them to implode is horrifying to Meghan and Harry,” a source told Heat Magazine. “They both find it sickening that people would make those sorts of accusations.” The source also added that Meghan and Harry certainly don’t believe any such rumors that a brand could be working with them because of the potential for a drama-filled downfall.

Harry dispelled any rumors last year during an open discussion when he made a joke that the press and media have reported his marriage ending so many times. It’s fun to watch the love between Harry and Meghan — especially when there are so many sad people rooting for its demise.
