Don’t expect to see more of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis this year. Royal commentators say Prince William and Kate Middleton are, like years past, keeping the Wales children “under wraps” and out of the spotlight. But there will be a few chances to see the Prince and Princess of Wales’s kids at events in 2025.
George, Charlotte, and Louis won’t be in the ‘public eye’ any more than usual this year
Speaking to Hello! Magazine, royal author Ingrid Seward discussed the Prince and Princess of Wales’ hesitation to put George, Charlotte, and Louis in the royal spotlight. “Like many famous parents, they are cautious about exposing the children to too much scrutiny in this digital age,” the My Mother and I author said.
After all, almost any time George, Charlotte, and Louis make a public appearance videos and photos immediately make the rounds on social media, occasionally going viral.
“They know they must produce the children at certain times,” she said of William and Kate. “But I think they very much keep them under wraps the rest of the time.”
Royal biographer Robert Hardman echoed Seward’s comments, telling Marie Claire: “I don’t think we’re going to see them in any way being shunted into the public eye more than is reasonably expected.”
Possible 2025 public appearances by William and Kate’s kids are coming
Although George, Charlotte, and Louis are expected to stay “under wraps” for much of the year, that doesn’t mean they won’t make the occasional appearance. According to Hardman, April could be the next time William and Kate’s kids step out publicly.
“We might see them at Easter at church,” Hardman said. (Easter is on April 20, 2025.) That could mean a few new snaps of the Wales family. Then there are the bigger events on the royal family’s calendar. “We’d expect to see them at The King’s birthday parade in June.” (Trooping the Colour is on June 14, 2025.) “And after that really, if there’s one of those sort of big charity events like Kate’s carol concert [Together at Christmas].”
“I think there’s definitely a view that […] we the public should not expect to see them any more than sort of official royal family gatherings,” Hardman continued. However, there’s a chance George, Charlotte, and Louis could potentially show up at events for the 80-year anniversary VE Day in May 2025.
“That’s a sort of moment where you do get street parties and big international events, so we might see them,” he said.
William and Kate last stepped out with George, Charlotte, and Louis on Christmas Day
The last time George, Charlotte, and Louis made an appearance alongside their parents happened on Dec. 25, 2024. The entire Wales family, along with many other British royals including King Charles III and Queen Camilla, walked to church together on Christmas morning, marking one of the few times a year when William and Kate step out publicly with their kids for a big family event.
The family of five reportedly stayed at Anmer Hall, their home on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England. Weeks earlier, royal watchers were treated to another glimpse of George, Charlotte, and Louis. They joined William and Kate for the latter’s Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey on Dec. 6, 2024. (Louis wrote an adorable note and kept a sweet secret from Charlotte.)
