Taylor Swift and her legal team have been working overtime trying to distance her from Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit drama. Apparently, a police officer-turned-private investigator didn’t get the memo. It has recently been revealed that a man serving as a process server was arrested in Travis Kelce’s Kansas neighborhood. The arrest came after he tried to make contact with Taylor Swift in the early hours of the morning. His goal was to serve her deposition papers, but he was hauled off to jail instead.

A private investigator was arrested outside of Travis Kelce’s home

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have multiple homes. They travel frequently and enjoy their time together. Still, during the NFL season, they spend a significant amount of time in Kansas, near Arrowhead Stadium. In the early morning of September 15, that is exactly where they were when an overzealous private investigator tried to make contact with the “Cardigan” singer. According to Star, a police officer-turned-private investigator named Justin Lee Fisher was arrested outside of Travis Kelce’s Leawood, Kansas, estate after security personnel nabbed him on the property.

According to the outlet, which obtained court records related to the incident, the private investigator was charged with criminal trespassing after he jumped a fence to gain access to Kelce’s expansive property. He was attempting to serve the famed pop star with deposition papers from Justin Baldoni’s legal team. Fisher’s criminal case is open. He is scheduled to return to court next month.

It is unclear exactly what Fisher thought was going to come of the late-night doorbell ambush. The late hour of the event makes it incredibly unlikely that either Kelce or Swift would have answered the door. It also seems like a no-brainer that one of the highest-profile couples on the planet would employ private security, especially immediately following their engagement. Neither Swift nor Kelce has discussed the incident.

How is Taylor Swift involved in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s case?

Swift’s legal team has made it clear that she has no desire to sit for a deposition. According to several sources, Swift’s lawyers dismissed claims from Baldoni’s lawyers that Swift was not opposed to providing testimony. Swift’s lawyers have stated that the pop star doesn’t have any insider information that is pertinent to the case. Her team went on to theorize that Baldoni’s lawyers are seeking to capitalize on her celebrity status for press purposes.

Baldoni’s team claims that the pop artist’s name was mentioned in conversation. They went on to argue that her celebrity status and reputation were used to influence the production of It Ends with Us. Now that Bladoni’s countersuit has been dismissed, his team believes Swift might have had knowledge of on-set working conditions that could be valuable to their case. Baldoni’s defamation countersuit was dismissed in June after a judge found that it had no legal basis.  

Swift was not directly connected to the movie that kicked off the legal drama between Baldoni and Lively. Her music appears on the soundtrack for It Ends With Us. Still, she had no other connection to the project, aside from her then-friendship with Lively. The formerly close pair’s friendship has apparently suffered as a result of the legal battle. So much so that rumors suggest Lively might not make it onto the guest list for Swift and Kelce’s wedding.
