Tennis Australia is making a strategic move to attract a high-profile US couple to headline the VIP lineup at the forthcoming Australian Open in Melbourne.
According to a report by the Herald Sun on Tuesday, the organization has reached out to pop superstar Taylor Swift and her fiancé, NFL player Travis Kelce, inviting them to grace the renowned Grand Slam event.
A representative conveyed optimism to the publication, expressing hope that the celebrity duo would attend, especially with Travis’ current schedule offering a potential window.
“We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of celebrities and VIPs from both Australia and abroad, and we have some extraordinary guests thanks to our AO Partners,” stated the spokesperson.
They added, “Since Travis Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, did not advance to the playoffs, we have warmly extended an open invitation to him and Taylor Swift to join us at the Australian Open.”
The spokesperson added that fellow NFL stars Joe Burrow and Micah Parsons attended the event in 2025 and ‘loved the experience.’
Tennis Australia has put in a hopeful bid to secure major US power couple Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce to lead the VIPs at the upcoming Australian Open in Melbourne
‘This year we would welcome with open arms Travis and any of the other NFL players to experience the AO, like Joe and Micah did,’ they said.
While Travis and Taylor’s attendance is still up in the air, organisers have confirmed a litany of stars for the first day of play on 18 January.
The likes of Ariane Titmus, Carrie Bickmore, Nadia Bartel and Kerri-Anne Kennerley have been confirmed for the event’s glittering Set In Style dinner.
Eric Bana and The Veronicas are tipped to attend the men’s and women’s finals respectively and the publication also reported that actors Tom Hanks, Gerard Butler, and Hayley Atwell have also been invited.
It was also suggested that Liam Hemsworth will be in attendance again, ‘possibly’ with fashion icon Ralph Lauren.Â
The invitation comes after Taylor and Travis headed to the US Open in September to watch Italy’s world No. 1 Jannik Sinner battle it out with American star Taylor Fritz for the last Grand Slam title of the year.
At one stage of the final, cameras panned to the celebrity super-couple as they belted out the iconic 2000s rock song ‘I Believe in a Thing Called Love’ by The Darkness in the stands, with a clip of the moment setting the internet ablaze.
While Taylor’s die-hard followers and a portion of tennis fans were in awe at her and Kelce’s singalong, others took aim at the couple for lacking ‘decorum’ and putting on a show for the cameras in New York.
‘With Travis Kelce not making the playoffs with the Kansas City Chiefs, we have extended an open invite to him and Taylor Swift to come to the Australian Open,’ the spokesperson said

One user wrote on X: ‘Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are pure cringe at the US Open, this looks completely forced and unnatural’.
Another commented: ‘No other couple in the celeb world loves the cameras this much. We’re still not buying it.’
‘If you can’t see that Taylor is being overly dramatic and making a spectacle of herself, you’re beyond help,’ said a third.Â
‘No one acts like a 15 yr on her first booze cruise at the US Open. It’s the US Open, not a football game in honky tonk. Maybe she’s just really trash vs class, I dunno.’
One fan replied to that post and agreed: ‘That’s what I was saying! Do you see any other couples making out in the stands?! Like you said, it’s the US open not a football game have some decorum’.
‘She definitely won’t be invited to Wimbledon,’ concluded another.
The Down Under invitations are coming thick and fast for Taylor and Travis, with wildlife warrior Robert Irwin recently offering up Australia Zoo as the ‘perfect’ wedding venue for the couple.
In a preview clip for US ABC News’ special Year: 2025, the Dancing With The Stars winner, 22, said he would open the gates of Australia Zoo for the pair.

Actor Tom Hanks has also reportedly been invited, while Liam Hemsworth is also expected to attend, ‘possibly’ with fashion icon Ralph Lauren
‘You know what’d really, in my opinion, just absolutely make that wedding is if it was an Australian wedding,’ Robert said in the clip.Â
‘One of the things that we do that is the most popular is weddings at Australia Zoo. We have hosted many,’ he said.Â
Robert then addressed the couple directly, urging them to get in touch to lock in the date.
‘So, Travis and Taylor, hit me up. I got you!’ he said.
