Steve McBee Sr. has been sentenced to a two-year prison term after admitting to federal crop insurance fraud. The court’s decision, delivered on Thursday, also includes an additional two years of supervised release and a mandate to repay $4,022,124, according to People. McBee Sr. is expected to voluntarily surrender by 2 p.m. on December 1.

The guilty plea entered by McBee Sr. in November 2024 pertains to fraudulent activities related to crop insurance conducted between 2018 and 2020, as reported by Bravo’s The Daily Dish. Although Steve Sr. had a minor presence in the second season of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, a show documenting the McBee family’s life on their farm in Gallatin, Missouri, the season concluded with a dramatic revelation. His eldest son, Steven McBee Jr., disclosed to his brothers, Cole and Jesse McBee, that their father was under investigation by the FBI.

In a candid interview with The Daily Dish in late August, Steven Jr. expressed his deep apprehension about his father’s impending sentencing. “I felt scared, nervous, every emotion you can think of,” he admitted. “We love him dearly and cherish our family bond, so the idea of him being away from us is truly frightening.”

Steven Jr. confided in The Daily Dish in an interview that took place in late August, sharing that he was “scared, nervous, anything, and everything” ahead of his father’s sentencing.

“We love him so much, and love our family unit,” he added. “So, to picture him not being here with us for any amount of time, it’s scary.”

Season 2 of The McBee Dynasty premiered in June on Bravo after Season 1 aired on Peacock. Variety broke the news on Wednesday that the reality series was renewed for a third season, and would kick off filming before Steven Sr.’s sentencing. In his interview with The Daily Dish, Steven Jr. explained that they are “focusing on the positive things we have going, of which there are so many,” but admitted that he would “be lying if I said that black cloud hasn’t been hanging over us every second of every day since we first found out.”

“We’re ready to get past that day, deal with whatever comes of it, and move on, to say the least,” he continued. “We know no matter what, if we stick together as a family, we’ll make it through anything.”

While sitting down with DECIDER in July, Steven Jr. said it felt “good” to finally tell his brothers about their father’s legal issues.

“I also think I should have told you guys earlier because I had some crash-outs and some very tense moments leading up to that,” he said alongside Jesse. “You guys were probably like, ‘why is he freaking out about something so small?’ It wasn’t any specific moment; it was knowing what all was going on behind the scenes.”

Steven Jr. reposted his Father’s Day post for Steve Sr. on his Instagram story on Thursday, writing, “Love ya Dad. Whole family is here for you.”

The first two seasons of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys are streaming on Peacock.
