MAX‘s new hit medical drama The Pitt transformed into something even more stress-inducing last week: a horror show. A mass casualty event — namely, an active shooting at the local music festival, PittFest — transformed Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s ED into a combat hospital. Beds were overfilling, blood was everywhere, and our favorite doctors and nurses found themselves against even bigger obstacles than ever before.

The Pitt was created by R. Scott Gemmill and is executive produced by John Wells and series star/writer Noah Wyle. The gripping drama’s first season follows a particularly hellacious fifteen hour shift for emergency department attending Dr. Robby. It’s not enough that the doctor has to go to work on the fifth anniversary of his mentor’s death from COVID complications or the fact that he’s got to deal with a new group of interns and med students; Dr. Robby’s got to help lead the ED during the most calamitous mass casualty event in its history.
Dr. Robby’s also dealing with the emotional fallout of watching numerous patients die, discovering that charge nurse Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa) has been assaulted by a disgruntled patient, and learning that his closest friend in the ED, Dr. Langdon (Patrick Ball), has been stealing opioids from patients. Oh, and then there was the whole conversation that implied that ex Dr. Collins (Tracey Ifeachor) once aborted a baby she’d conceived with him. Dr. Robby has been juggling a lot!
