The Gilded Age Season 3 is set to tear into one of the most scandalous events of the late 1880s: the publication of Ward McAllister’s (Nathan Lane) Society As I Found It, a tell-all that aired all of New York City elite’s dirtiest secrets. The book has been spotted in HBO‘s official teasers for The Gilded Age Season 3 Episode 7, meaning that we might also get to see how it affects the plans of Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon), Caroline Astor (Donna Murphy), and the other grand dames of HBO’s The Gilded Age.
The Gilded Age often weaves together real life historic figures with original characters created by co-showrunners Julian Fellowes and Sonja Warfield. This season, we’ve watched Gladys Russell (Taissa Farmiga) get married off to the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb), much like Consuelo Vanderbilt and countless other American heiresses were in the era. George Russell (Morgan Spector) is working with the show’s version of J.P. Morgan (Bill Camp) to expand trains across America as many other railroad tycoons of the era did and characters namedrop real historic establishments like the Haymarket and Delmonico’s.
Of course, what makes The Gilded Age so addictive, however, are the never-ending twists that Fellows and Warfield serve up. That, and some swoon-worthy romance.
