The Gilded Age Season 3 ends with George Russell walking out on Bertha because he’s still pissed about Gladys marrying the Duke (Ben Lamb). Of course, he doesn’t know that the two are now forging a happy marriage of their own, built on their mutual hatred of Lady Sarah (Hattie Morahan). So is it possible that Train Daddy and Opera Mommy can reconcile?

Larian fanatics can take comfort in the fact that the two lovebirds made up at Mrs. Russell’s Newport ball, but what’s more exciting is that Dr. William Kirkland (Jordan Donica) proposed to Peggy Scott (Denée Benton) in spite of his mother’s objections.

Yes, HBO confirmed on Monday, July 28, 2025 that they would be making a fourth season of The Gilded Age.

When Will The Gilded Age Season 4 Come Out?

We don’t know for sure when The Gilded Age Season 4 will come out, but considering it took about a year and a half to make the third season of the show, we can make an educated guess. The earliest The Gilded Age Season 4 might hit HBO would be late 2026.

What Will The Gilded Age Season 4 Be About?

The Gilded Age Season 3 ends with a variety of tantalizing new engagements and one devastating falling out. The Gilded Age Season 4 will have to delve into the state of George and Bertha’s marriage. Will they eventually divorce? Can they reconnect? The Gilded Age co-showrunners and stars recently gave DECIDER hope for the latter.

“Maybe they can come back together, maybe they can’t,” co-showrunner Sonja Warfield said. “I think that’s real and these are real, flawed, multidimensional human beings who we depict.” 

“I don’t think we’re necessarily looking at anything very seismic, but we are looking at a situation where they have to make a decision as to what it is that they want,” co-showrunner Julian Fellowes said, “and that’s what we hope they will do.”

“I don’t think it’s irreconcilable, [that] the bridges are totally burned,” Morgan Spector said. “I think it’s more like I don’t know how to be in this relationship right now and I’ve got to go be somewhere else.”

Elsewhere, several characters have weddings to play. Peggy is set to marry Dr. Kirkland and it appears that Larry and Marian have reconciled. Oscar van Rhijn (Blake Ritson) has also proposed a plan to the widowed Mrs. Winterton (Kelley Curran) wherein they would marry to conquer New York society, but enjoy their own households and, uh, personal pursuits out of the city.

Finally, Gladys is pregnant with the Duke of Buckingham’s baby. So we might get to learn about Gilded Age obstetrics.
