If you’re anticipating The Valley: Persian Style to mirror The Valley featuring former Vanderpump Rules stars, prepare for a surprise.
Reza Farahan, Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi, and Mercedes “MJ” Javid shared insights with Decider in the BravoCon press room on Saturday regarding their much-awaited Shahs of Sunset spinoff.
When asked about how their series will differ from the original Valley, which showcases Vanderpump Rules alumni Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright, Farahan enthusiastically responded, “Oh, girl!”
“Prepare for a blend of centuries-old history, culture, passion, and intensity. What you’re getting with the original is a sweet, more limited experience,” he elaborated, gesturing with his hands to illustrate the contrast.
Farahan energetically declared, “No shade to the classic The Valley. But The Valley: Persian Style? Bam!” as he jumped back, arms wide open. “The spectrum is vastly different, my friend!”
Shahs of Sunset aired for nine seasons on Bravo between 2012 and 2021, and followed a group of young Persian-American friends as they navigated their lives in Los Angeles.
While it’s been a handful of years since Shahs of Sunset went off the air, OG stars Farahan, Gharachedaghi, and Javid are all slated to return to Bravo for The Valley: Persian Style, which will also star Farahan’s husband Adam Neely, Javid’s estranged husband Tommy Feight, Tanin Nikpey and Greg Haroutunian, Sky Asakari and Bamshad Akbar, Natasha and Amir Boroumand, and Reza Jackson, per Deadline.
The spinoff is coming just about two years after The Valley—which follows the Vanderpump Rules alum into the next stage of their lives—first premiered on the network. An exclusive sneak peek into the upcoming series was played ahead of The Valley’s panel at BravoCon on Friday (Nov. 14), and the trailer promised that while the OG stars might have a new zip code and new responsibilities, they are still the same dramatic bunch that Bravoholics grew to know and love over the years.
The Valley: Persian Style premieres on Jan. 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
