Myka Meier, a renowned etiquette coach with training from the same experts who instructed Princess Diana, has shared a surprising revelation from her time on Ladies of London: The New Reign. Entering the series with grace, Meier was joined by her lifelong friend, Dara Huang, expecting to have a steadfast ally. However, after just two episodes, Meier found herself estranged from both the show and her friend.
Dara Huang, an American architect and the mother of a child with Princess Beatrice’s husband, became embroiled in a scandalous rumor alleging she was involved as a madam, managing a brothel. Upon learning of this gossip, Meier passionately defended Huang, dismissing the rumors. At the inaugural cast dinner, the rumors surfaced publicly, and Huang was simultaneously accused of speaking ill of Meier. In the midst of this turmoil, Huang made a dramatic exit from the show while filming continued.
“I always stood by her side,” Meier recounted in an interview with DECIDER during her visit to their studio. “Unfortunately, I could only control my own actions, not hers. It was devastating, and I experienced a whirlwind of emotions, from being gutted to feeling angry.”
Meier suspects there were more significant issues at hand regarding Huang’s departure from the Bravo series. When questioned about how the royal family reacted to Huang’s television involvement, Meier speculated, “I doubt it was well-received.” She expressed her admiration for Princess Beatrice, the daughter of the former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, while acknowledging that the royal family likely had discussions with Huang about her participation in the show.
“I think she’s amazing. I’ve always held her in high regard,” Meier remarked. “However, I believe that despite having numerous discussions, Huang made her choices, and now we can observe the consequences.”
Meier also shared that she and Huang—whose son is also her godson—”no longer speak” as a result of what happened on Ladies of London.
“But I have to say, I am grateful that I don’t have toxicity in my life,” Meier said. “This is something that I think is really important, and I think that friendships go through phases. I’m a big believer of only keeping really positive, wonderful people in your life. And now I can say I have that. And so that’s where I am.”
As for whether she now believes the madam rumors, Meier told us, “I plead the fifth.”
