After months of speculation and public backlash, controversial Nigerian show promoter Sam Larry has finally addressed the allegations linking him to the tragic death of rising music star, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

In a recent exclusive interview with outspoken activist VeryDarkMan, Sam Larry broke his silence, offering his side of the story surrounding the viral beach confrontation video that resurfaced following Mohbad’s passing in September 2023.

“That Video Was Misunderstood” – Sam Larry Speaks Out

Speaking directly on the now-infamous 9-second clip showing him confronting Mohbad at a beach location, Sam Larry claimed the situation was blown out of proportion and widely misunderstood.

“That video was just nine seconds. I was at the beach with my son. I saw Mohbad and went to ask him for a refund over a show he didn’t attend,” he explained.

“Zlatan was there, and he quickly stepped in to resolve the issue. There was no assault or violence. People misunderstood what happened.”

The video had originally sparked outrage across social media, with many interpreting the clip as a threat or act of intimidation against the late singer. However, Sam Larry insists the exchange was strictly business-related.

Zlatan’s Silence Explained

When questioned about why rapper Zlatan Ibile has never publicly confirmed the encounter was peaceful, Sam Larry alleged that Zlatan was warned to avoid speaking out on the matter.

“Zlatan say if him talk, blood go comot for him mouth,” he said, implying threats or pressure to keep quiet.

Where Was Sam Larry During Mohbad’s Death?

Addressing the timeline of events leading to Mohbad’s death in September 2023, Sam Larry revealed that he was not in Nigeria at the time of the incident.

“I was in Dubai, and Naira Marley was in Amsterdam,” he claimed, distancing himself and his associate from the singer’s final moments.

This interview marks Sam Larry’s first full public statement since Mohbad’s death—a tragedy that continues to spark debates, investigations, and calls for justice across Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
