Savannah Chrisley is finally able to swap the role of full-time caretaker for something she’s been missing, just being a sister.

The Unlocked podcast host, 28, stepped into the parental role for her younger sister, Chloe, 12, and brother, Grayson, after parents Todd and Julie Chrisley began serving prison sentences in January 2023. Now, following their recent pardon, Savannah says she’s learning to enjoy the “fun” parts of sisterhood again.

“I have. But, like yesterday, we went back to school shopping for makeup,” Savannah shared on the August 12 episode of Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley when asked if she’d stepped back from raising Chloe. “And it’s fun because I feel like I get to be the sister again, so I get to do the fun things with her.”

Of course, old habits die hard. “I’m still doing some little parental things,” she admitted. “We did live a certain way for two and a half years… I know things that Mom may not, or just trying to connect all the pieces to say, ‘This is the dentist, this is the doctor,’ or whatever it may be. I have stepped back and I get to be [the] sister.”

Savannah recalled a recent mall trip filled with Starbucks runs and laughter, saying Chloe has “such a breath of fresh air, such a light.” She also pointed out how different her sister acts at their parents’ home. “She’s a totally different child down at their home. And I’m like, ‘Hey guys. Remember, this is not how she was when you were gone.’”

The reality star is even planning to bring Chloe on the podcast to share her own perspective on the last few years. “That was awesome for me to get to be sister and not mom with Chloe,” Savannah said.

Todd and Julie Chrisley were convicted in June 2022 on bank fraud and tax evasion charges, with Todd receiving a 12-year sentence and Julie a seven-year term. Both also had probation periods. In June 2025, after serving roughly 28 months, President Trump granted them a full pardon.

Julie has publicly praised Savannah for the way she stepped up, telling The Chrisleys Life After Lockup, “I have to say I was beyond proud… They didn’t deserve to be left without a mom, and she was able to step right in and not miss a beat.”

But Savannah has been open about the toll it took. Back in February, she told People Magazine, “I wasn’t expecting to get two kids… You fake it till you make it. That’s the world that we live in. … I’ve struggled.”

Now, she’s ready to trade some of that responsibility for more Starbucks dates, shopping trips, and the kind of big sister moments she’s been missing.
