Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs got into a dispute at his son’s football practice. Here’s why police were called.
In 2015, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ son, Justin, played football at UCLA. Combs was a frequent presence at games and practices and, on one occasion, his temper got the better of him. After an alleged dispute, police arrested Combs on charges of assault and making terrorist threats.
During Justin Combs’ football practice, strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi reportedly criticized him for what he perceived as a lack of effort.
“I don’t care if your dad’s here. This is UCLA,” he reportedly said, per TMZ. “I’m going to treat you just like I treat everyone else.”
After practice, Combs went to talk with Alosi in his office. Some sort of altercation ensued, and the police were called. Combs claimed he was acting in self-defense, but other sources said he swung a kettlebell at Alosi. Police arrested Combs on three counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one count of making terrorist threats, and one count of battery. Ultimately, though, prosecutors declined to pursue felony charges against Combs.
“We are thankful that the district attorney rejected felony charges in this matter,” Combs’ lawyer, Mark Geragos, told CNN. “This case never should have been part of the criminal justice system to begin with.”
Combs’ representatives also said that accounts of the incident were “wholly inaccurate.”
