Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs will soon learn how much time he will spend in prison. He wrote a letter to the judge saying he won’t ever commit another crime.

As Sean “Diddy” Combs awaits his sentencing, he is pleading his case to Judge Arun Subramanian. In a four-page letter, Combs asked for leniency in his case. He said that his year in jail has profoundly changed him and taught him the error of his ways. Combs promised never to commit another crime.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs tells the judge he will never commit another crime

Ahead of Combs’ sentencing, a number of people, including Combs’ mother and former partner, Cassie Ventura, have written to Subramanian. In his own letter, Combs told the judge that he takes full responsibility for his actions.

“First and foremost, I want to apologize and say how sincerely sorry I am for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused others by my conduct,” he wrote (per Variety). “I take full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs.”

He said that he deeply regrets the way he treated Ventura in the infamous hotel footage of him attacking her. He also said that jail has changed him.

“The old me died in jail and a new version of me was reborn,” he wrote. “Prison will change you or kill you — I choose to live.”

Combs asked the judge to allow him to live as this “new version of me” outside of jail. He promised he would never commit a crime again.

“Today, I humbly ask you for another chance — another chance to be a better father, another chance to be a better son, another chance to be a better leader in my community, and another chance to live a better life,” he wrote. “I am writing this not to gain any sympathy or pity, this experience is simply the truth of my existence and has changed my life forever and I will never commit a crime again.”

Prosecutors have pushed for an 11-year sentence while the defense has requested a 14-month sentence.
