Wunmi Mosaku is cherishing a special connection with her Sinners co-star Hailee Steinfeld as both actresses embark on their respective journeys into motherhood.

The 39-year-old star announced her second pregnancy while gracing the 2026 Golden Globe Awards red carpet. Known for her role in Loki, Wunmi, who already has a daughter with her partner, revealed the exciting news just a month after her co-star Hailee Steinfeld, 29, shared that she is expecting her first child with husband Josh Allen.

The duo shares the screen in the vampire thriller Sinners, where Wunmi plays the character Annie, while Hailee takes on the role of Mary.

During the 2026 National Board of Review Awards Gala, Wunmi spoke with Entertainment Tonight, offering some words of wisdom to her younger colleague as she experiences pregnancy for the first time.

“My general advice is to be discerning about the advice you take, but I really encouraged her to savor this time,” she said. “It’s tough on the body, so it’s important to rest as much as possible and be present when you can. Enjoy it, because you’ll look back and think, ‘Wow, I accomplished this with you inside me. I really did it.’”
Wunmi also addressed a fan meme that went viral, inspired by her and Hailee’s characters in Sinners. The meme humorously suggested that their characters’ pregnancies were linked to Michael B. Jordan’s dual roles as Smoke and Stack.

“We had a feeling that might happen,” she said. “And you know, the internet never fails.”

The actress debuted her baby bump in a custom sunshine-yellow Matthew Reisman gown, later telling Vogue the color referenced the Yoruba phrase “Iya ni Wúrà,” meaning “mother is golden.” She explained, “I knew it was the right dress and the right moment.”

Coinciding with her Golden Globes appearance, Vogue published Wumni’s personal essay explaining her decision to share her pregnancy publicly.

“Everything in me resists sharing it publicly—not because I’m not grateful or joyful, but because this feels like one of the few things that truly belongs to me,” she wrote, adding, “I’ll be in the public eye for the coming weeks [during awards season] as we excitedly take our seats amongst our peers, and I will be doing it with an ever-growing bump.”

“I’ve been advised to get ahead of speculation and questions. Keen eyes mean speculation has already begun. Is she pregnant? Has she gained weight? What’s with the outfit?” she continued. “Truthfully, I’d love to just show up as me—a woman who happens to be pregnant—celebrating our powerful film and our amazing team, while I protect this most sacred prayer of my life. So, I’ve decided to stop trying to camouflage my bump today at the Golden Globes, so me and baby can truly enjoy and embrace the moment fully together.”

The soon-to-be mother-of-two also reflected on her experience as a Black mother, writing, “For many, peace comes once a baby is placed on their chest. For Black mothers, the path to peace is rarely that simple. Pregnancy and birth carry its own battles and terrifying statistics. I personally know that with my first child, I didn’t feel truly safe—truly able to exhale—until I received the all-clear from my OB-GYN.”

She added, “Holding joy and fear at the same time is not abstract; It’s rooted in lived experience, medical bias, and real statistics. Black maternal mortality is always on our minds.”

As she prepares to welcome her second child, Call Jane actress is balancing new motherhood with professional success and creative ventures.

“I’m also pouring my heart into something new—a clothing line for mothers called Iyadé—which means ‘mother has arrived’ in Yoruba,” she revealed. “Born from my own lived experience, it’s about honoring bodies in transition—offering comfort, dignity, and beauty through every phase of this journey. Centering and celebrating the creators who make life possible.”

She concluded that much of her time is now spent “chasing after my toddler,” calling it a “welcomed distraction from the business of work.”
