Sir Rod Stewart has called off the sale of his music back catalogue to Hipgnosis Songs Fund after two years of negotiations.
The 78-year-old rocker has revealed in a statement that the company – who already own the rights to music by Bruce Springsteen and Justin Bieber – was not the right holders of his legacy’.
Writing: ‘This catalogue represents my life’s work,’.
‘And it became abundantly clear after much time and due diligence that this was not the right company to manage my song catalogue, career or legacy.’
The spiky haired star is one of the world’s best selling recording artists and has solved over 250M records worldwide.

While details of the supposed deal have not been made public, hits from his six-decade-spanning career include Maggie May, Da Ya Think I’m Sexy? and The Killing of Georgie, Part i and ii.
Hipgnosis Song Management offer investors the chance to earn royalties from the work of a diverse range of artists such as Barry Manilow and Beyonce.
Justin Bieber sold his his music catalog for whopping $200M to the brand earlier this year.
Other famous stars to have sold their songs include Paul Simon, David Guetta and Stevie Nicks.
It comes after The One Show were forced to apologise to viewers when Sir Rod swore live on air on Thursday.

Hosts Roman Kemp and Angellica Bell were joined in the studio by Sir Rod and Boy George, 61, when chaos was caused over the use of foul language.
They were all discussing touring when Sir Rod accidentally dropped a swear word, getting himself into trouble with the BBC hosts.
Sir Rod dropped the expletive when he was asked about outfit changes during his show, after it was revealed Beyoncé has nine changes during her Renaissance World Tour shows.

Revealing he opts for four outfit changes, he said: ‘I change because I want to entertain. I’ve had critics say, “He went off to have a rest because he was tired”.
‘No, I was sweating my b******s off.’
Presenter Roman, 30, was then forced to quickly cut the singing icon off and apologise to BBC viewers at home.
Roman said: ‘Sorry for any bad language there. It is a family show,’ while Angellica said she had warned him not to swear during the live broadcast.

Sir Rod later took to Twitter to share the clip, writing: ‘Discussing my U.K. Summer Tour with Boy George last night on The One Show. Oops! @BoyGeorge #TheOneShow.’
He also shared a second separate tweet writing: ‘OOPS #TheOneShow’
