Sister Wives stars Meri Brown and Christine Brown aren’t in each other’s lives anymore, and that’s OK.
Meri recently opened up about her nonexistent relationship with her former sister wife during an appearance on the I Do, Part 2 podcast. The TLC personality said that it’s only been in the last few years that she’s realized it’s better for her not to maintain relationships with everyone in her large family.

Christine and Meri’s frosty relationship is no secret to Sister Wives fans. Both women have spoken about their often-tense dynamic when they were married to Kody Brown. Many of their conflicts had to do with their different approaches to raising their children.
Now, both women have left Kody, and their kids are mostly grown. That means that Meri and Christine no longer have any reason to keep in touch. And Meri is fine with that.
“I don’t have to have relationships with everyone in the family, nor do I want to,” Meri told I Do, Part 2 host Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes. “There are some … it’s not healthy for me. It’s just not. It’s not healthy.”
Embracing that reality “is heartbreaking on a level, but it’s the best for me,” she added. “And it’s the best for them, too. Because I know some of them, I’m not healthy for them, either, right? And that’s OK. Just because we were in the same family doesn’t mean we have to spend our whole lives together as best friends.”
When Holmes asked her specifically about her relationship with Christine, Meri was blunt.
“We don’t talk,” she said.
“On my part – I don’t know about her – but on my part, there’s no hate,” she continued. “I just don’t choose to have her in my life. It’s not healthy and it’s not safe for me, emotionally.”

Meri doesn’t want Christine in her life, and she thinks Christine would say the same about her.
“We have had some really good times but our values are just not aligned,” Meri explained. “I know our values aren’t aligned. There are certain things that I want and I need in a relationship and she absolutely doesn’t have that. And I believe the same thing for her. She needs and wants certain things in a relationship and I don’t have that for her.”
Though Meri and Christine aren’t friends, they aren’t enemies either.
“We can be cordial to each other if we ran into each other,” Meri said. “It’s not like we’re going to scratch each other’s eyes out or anything like that. But on a daily basis we’re not going to be in each other’s life.”
As for Christine’s recently released memoir, where she opens up about her life in polygamy, Meri says she has no intention of reading it.
“I have not read it and I probably won’t … what she’s writing, it’s her perspective on it. And it’s 100% valid to her. I don’t want to read it and be upset, potentially, at some of the things and be like ‘Wait a second, that’s not what happened.’ Because that wouldn’t be fair.”
