'WWHL': Snoop Dogg's claps back at haters trying to "blackball" him for performing at Trump inaugural event

Snoop Dogg is clapping back at his haters in the best way he knows how to: through his music.

On Thursday night’s (May 15) episode of Watch What Happens Live, the rapper revealed how the backlash to his performance at one of President Donald Trump‘s inauguration events earlier this year inspired his new album titled “Iz It a Crime?”

“‘Iz It a Crime?’ is a record that I did based off a lot of different scenarios that I hadn’t addressed,” Snoop explained. “When I did a certain little situation, a lot of people tried to blackball me, say I was a sellout, and put me in different categories and whatnot.”

“So instead of me answering, I went back to my craft which is making music and speaking from my heart and using my therapy as music to get my message across,” he continued.

Snoop added, “It’s what I do best. I make music. I make people have a good time when they hear my voice over music so I went back and put a record together called ‘Iz It A Crime?’ Because I want to know: is it a crime?”

The “Gin and Juice” singer’s performance came eight years after he threatened to “roast” any rapper who performed for Trump. While Trump was not in attendance at the event, the POTUS’ crypto czar David Sacks was there to emcee.

During his appearance on The Breakfast Club earlier this week, Snoop said he did the event for his longtime friend Sacks.

“I’m not a politician. I don’t represent the Republican Party. I don’t represent the Democratic Party. I represent the [expletive] Gangster Party point blank period,” he said, per USA Today. “We don’t explain [expletive], so that’s why I didn’t explain, that’s why I didn’t go into detail when [expletive] was trying to cancel me and say ‘he’s a sellout.’”

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
