Cori Broadus, the daughter of Snoop Dogg, shared the heartbreaking news on Monday that her 11-month-old daughter, Codi Dreaux, has passed away just 20 days after being released from the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Codi, who was born three months ahead of schedule in late February 2025, was Cori’s first child with her fiancé, photographer Wayne Duece.

After spending several months in the NICU, Codi was finally allowed to go home at the start of January. Cori joyfully shared the news on Instagram, expressing her gratitude for the prayers and stating: “She’s home,” with a heartfelt thanks to those who supported them, noting: “God heard them all.”

However this Saturday she posted a black-and-white photo of herself holding her daughter, captioned: ‘Monday, I lost the love of my life. My Codi.’

Cori later revisited her earlier post about Codi’s homecoming, expressing her disbelief and distress with the comment: “20 days later?! dawg im sick.”

The 26-year-old Cori is the youngest daughter of Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, and his wife of 28 years, Shante Broadus.

Duece also posted to his Insta Stories on Saturday, sharing a heartrending image of himself leaning lovingly over his baby girl as she gazed up at him.

‘I been the saddest since u left me Codi Dreaux. But I know u at peace. Daddy will always love you,’ he wrote, adding the hashtag: ‘#LongLiveCodiDreaux.’

Cori re-shared a post by her baby’s nurse, who posted a video of a mobile spinning over Codi’s crib along with her own reflections on the tragedy.

‘I been sad for 6 days straight. Being a nurse has its ups and downs and this is the biggest down I ever experienced,’ she wrote.

‘It was such a pleasure being mybabygirls nurse. I gave her one last bath told her I loved her and didn’t even know I was getting her ready for Heaven.’

She added that the baby’s parents were ‘forever in my heart and my family 4 ever,’ concluding her devastated post with a praying hands emoji.

Cori announced her baby’s arrival last February when she was only 25 weeks along, confessing she had ‘cried and cried’ as well as ‘compared and compared, blaming myself that I wasn’t able to give her all that she needed.’

She added that Codi herself was ‘perfect as ever! Thank You God for getting me this far no matter the odds that are constantly thrown against me.’

The preterm birth was the result of a preclampsia variant called HELLP syndrome, with the acronym standing for Hemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes and Low Platelets.

Cori, who has had lupus since age six and had a stroke at the start of 2024, had previously noted while expecting that she was in the midst of a ‘high risk pregnancy.’

Last September, when her baby was six months old and in the NICU, Cori gushed about her ‘feisty’ daughter, whom she called ‘so resilient and strong,’ via Us Weekly.

Codi, she said, ‘just has so much character. The doctors and nurses always tell me: “Your baby got her mind. She’s smart. She’s alert. She knows what’s going on. She can hear. She can see. Yeah, the circumstances are not what you thought they would be, but it could be worse.” That girl is just a sweet little firecracker.
