Spencer Pratt has announced his candidacy for Mayor of Los Angeles, a decision coming a year after devastating wildfires ravaged California and claimed his home. The 42-year-old reality television star, married to Heidi Montag, 39, shared this unexpected news during the ‘They Let Us Burn!’ protest held in the Palisades on Wednesday.

Pratt voiced strong criticism of the current administration, declaring, “The system in Los Angeles is not merely struggling; it is fundamentally broken. It operates as a machine that serves only those at the top, shielding them and their inner circle of allies, while ordinary citizens are left to suffer amidst toxic smoke and ash.”

Expressing his frustration with the status quo, Pratt stated, “Business as usual is essentially a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I refuse to wait any longer for genuine action to be taken.”

He emphasized that his run for mayor is not just a typical campaign but a mission to unveil and rectify the deeply flawed system. “They let us burn before, during, and after the wildfires,” he asserted, “There was a complete lack of accountability, a gross negligence. They allowed this disaster to happen.”

‘They intentionally let us burn before, during and after. There was no accountability. It was gross negligence. They let this happen.

‘It wasn’t a natural disaster or something that was unavoidable. It was their fault, and we need the accountability we deserve.’ Pratt did not reveal which party he was running for.

The home Pratt and Montag lived in with their two sons in Pacific Palisades was incinerated in the devastating blazes.

Pratt was later seen rifling through the debris at the home he shared with Montag for crystals or other personal artifacts that might have potentially survived the blaze.

The reality TV star also took photos of a burnt tricycle belonging to one of his two children.

The Hills alum was clad in a black T-shirt and khaki shorts as he surveyed the damage of his home, which had a few walls standing in the aftermath.

The couple’s home was flattened to the ground after the raging fire took over the LA landscape and wreaked fiery havoc on Tuesday evening, and photos obtained by DailyMail.com on Wednesday showed the severity of the devastation.

The only parts of the home still standing were the charred entry gate and the front portion of the home’s stucco perimeter wall. Large piles of debris were seen throughout the property as well as burnt foliage that once decorated the home’s front yard.

Not only was the couple’s residence destroyed, but Pratt’s parents also lost their home to the fire.

Pratt shared a photo of the little that remained of his parent’s house to his Instagram Stories.

In various TikToks, Montag grew emotional about the blaze as she processed the stunning loss.

While sitting on the couch with one of her children, Montag sobbed: ‘Sad our house is gone’ she cried, later saying, ‘Everything you worked so hard for…’

Her child served as a comforting distraction as he periodically touched her face, making her smile. ‘Thank you,’ she ended the video with a giggle.

‘While we ended up losing our house in the fire and thank God we are safe, so thank you to everyone who’s checking, thank you for all your prayers, thank you for your thoughts. It’s,’ she said, emotion growing on her face. ‘No words.’

Pratt attempted to cheer himself up on Wednesday with some bagels.

The reality alum, who was seen Tuesday watching the flames move towards his home, admitted he was in a state of shock and conceded his video was quite ‘unhinged.’

‘When your house burns down and you have nothing and your parents house burns down and they have nothing. There’s only one thing that can maybe make you feel better – a bag of bagels!’ he said gleefully.

‘Obviously I’m in shock and my brain’s not functioning, so think is the most unhinged post you’ve seen.’

While speaking to blogger, Perez Hilton, at the time, the father-of-two recalled desperately trying to get help from Los Angeles Fire Department as he watched his property go up in flames.

‘They never came. The gate was still locked,’ he claimed. ‘They never came. I watched from my security cameras until our house burned down. There were no fire trucks.’

As his home burned down, Pratt insisted that he called 911 and informed them that if they sent ‘one fire truck’ to his street that they ‘could stop [the fire from] coming down the whole freaking area.’

Meanwhile, Trump blamed Gavin Newsom, the Governor of California, for the killer wildfires that ravaged the state.

At the time, Trump tore into Newsom for being unprepared for the devastating wildfires that have cropped up all around Los Angeles causing immeasurable damage.

The wildfires, numbering up to four separate blazes, scorched thousands of acres, burnt scores of structures and caused billions of dollars in damage.

The Palisades Fire, which began in Pacific Palisades, California, and currently is the most ferocious of all the blazes, has already torched beach-side homes from Malibu to Santa Monica, and as of Friday evening is just eight percent contained.
