The eagerly awaited period drama The Forsytes from PBS’s Masterpiece has not only secured a second season but also a third, even before its premiere in late March 2026. This announcement comes as a thrilling surprise, with the show’s debut still on the horizon.

Stephen Moyer, who stars in The Forsytes, shared this exciting development during his appearance on Page Six Radio via Sirius XM. He expressed how remarkable the early renewal decision from Masterpiece truly is.

“I’ve got some exciting news to share with you,” Moyer revealed to hosts Evan Real and Danny Murphy. “This is breaking news, right here, right now.”

Reflecting on his career, Moyer added, “In my 35 years in the industry, this is a first for me—a show getting both a second and third season order before the first one even airs.”

The Forsytes presents a fresh take on John Galsworthy’s esteemed novel series The Forsyte Saga, reimagined by Poldark showrunner Debbie Horsfield. The narrative begins slightly before the original stories, exploring the rocky beginnings of Young Jolyon Forsyte’s (played by Danny Griffin) marriage to the aristocratic Frances (Tuppence Middleton). Additionally, it delves into Soames Forsyte’s (Joshua Orpin) infatuation with the aspiring ballerina Irene Heron (Millie Gibson) and June Forsyte’s (Justine Moore) tender relationship with the progressive architect Philip Bosinney (Jamie Flatters). Previous adaptations, including Masterpiece‘s 2002 rendition, plunged directly into dramatic territory, filled with scandalous divorces and passionate liaisons.

“Fans of the books will know that we are loosely following the book, so there may be some of those plot threads that come in future seasons,” The Forsytes star Joshua Orpin told DECIDER in our studio this morning. “We’re putting the wheels in motion in Season 1, and then we’re going to feel a bit more of the fallout in Season 2.”

Stephen Moyer plays Young Jolyon’s father, Jolyon Forsyte, Sr., who often finds himself at odds with his competitive younger brother (and Soames’s father) James (Jack Davenport).

“We’re starting [production on] Season 3 in May,” Moyer told Page Six Radio. The Forsytes Season 2 wrapped filming last summer.

All six episodes of The Forsytes will be available to stream on PBS Passport on March 22. Alternatively, you can tune into Masterpiece on PBS every Sunday night between March 22 and April 26 to find out what’s going on with those Forsyte men and women.
