Seth MacFarlane’s enduring animated sitcom, Family Guy, has graced our screens for over 23 seasons, exploring a vast array of topics throughout its lengthy run. Among the show’s favorite themes is Halloween, a holiday that has been celebrated in multiple episodes. True to Family Guy‘s unique blend of irreverent charm and biting humor, these episodes offer a fresh take on the spooky season.
Set in the fictional town of Quahog, Rhode Island, the series follows the Griffin family: the bumbling yet lovable Peter (voiced by MacFarlane), his patient wife Lois (Alex Borstein), their perpetually overlooked daughter Meg (Mila Kunis), awkward son Chris (Seth Green), the diabolical infant Stewie (also MacFarlane), and their articulate dog Brian (MacFarlane once more). Together, they navigate a series of outlandish escapades, making Halloween episodes a particular delight as they embrace the holiday’s mischief and madness.
In our quest to highlight the best of Family Guy‘s Halloween offerings, we’ve selected seven standout episodes. While not all are set strictly on Halloween, they capture the essence of the spooky season with enough ghoulish fun and jocularity. Here’s a guide on how to watch these episodes now:
FAMILY GUY HALLOWEEN EPISODES (IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER):
-
“Petergeist” (Season 4, Episode 26)
Photo: IMDb Among the memorable episodes is “Petergeist,” first aired in 2006. While it doesn’t explicitly mention Halloween, its eerie homage to the 1982 horror classic Poltergeist earns it a place on the list. The episode kicks off with Peter’s envy-driven quest to outdo his neighbor Joe Swanson (Patrick Warburton), who has just installed a new home theater system. Peter’s ambitious plans to build a multiplex in his backyard go awry when he inadvertently disturbs an Indian burial ground, setting off a paranormal chain of events that culminates in Stewie’s mysterious disappearance.

“Quagmire’s Quagmire” (Season 12, Episode 3)

The seasonal part of “Quagmire’s Quagmire” involves Lois and the kids preparing for Halloween by digging through storage, leading Lois to find Stewie’s old teddy bear, Oscar, leaving the baby torn between Oscar and his newer bear, Rupert.
The episodes main plot, however, revolves around the Griffins’ neighbor and one of Peter’s best friends, Glenn Quagmire (MacFarlane), as he gets involved with a woman whose sexual appetite rivals his own. But when her proclivities begin to be too much even for the famously perverted Quagmire, he quickly finds himself in need of rescuing.
