Where is 'ER' streaming? How to watch 'ER' for free after finishing 'The Pitt'

If you find yourself missing Noah Wyle’s Dr. Robby following the season finale of Max’s breakout hit The Pitt and you’re looking to fill the Pitt-shaped hole in your TV watching, it might be time to commit to the long-term binge-watch that is ER.

The Pitt is not explicitly ER, but it’s also not not ER, you know? In addition to sharing a setting (emergency room) and star (Wyle), both shows also share R. Scott Gemmill, Pitt showrunner and ER writer/producer, and John Wells, the original showrunner of ER who serves as an executive producer on The Pitt.

Premiering in 1994, ER is still the most-awarded medical drama on TV and the second-longest-running one after Grey’s Anatomy. It ran for 15 seasons, ending in 2009, and saw countless cast members cycle in and out of the doors of Cook County General Hospital, including The Pitt’s Wyle, who played Dr. John Carter for 11 seasons. The show also launched the careers of stars, including original cast member George Clooney, who played Dr. Doug Ross.

In addition to Wyle and Clooney, the original cast of ER includes Anthony Edwards as Dr. Mark Greene, Sherry Stringfield as Dr. Susan Lewis, Julianna Margulies as nurse Carol Hathaway, and Eriq La Salle as Dr. Peter Benton.

All of this is just to say, basically, if hot people yelling things like “I need a crash cart!,” “clear!,” and various medication dosages is something you’re into, perhaps this is the next binge-watch for you.

Where is ER streaming?

At the time of publishing, all 15 seasons of ER are streaming on both Hulu and Max.

Hulu and Max both start at $9.99/month with ads. Ad-free Hulu is $17.99/month and Max costs $16.99/month.

How to watch ER for free:

While Max doesn’t offer a free trial (though it may still end up being the better option for you!), new Hulu subscribers can take advantage of a 30-day free trial of the with-ads plan before $9.99/month payments begin.
