In 2023, Travis Kelce attended the Eras Tour with the objective of meeting Taylor Swift afterward. Swift’s fans traded friendship bracelets at the shows, and Kelce hoped to hand the singer one with his phone number on it. To his disappointment, he didn’t meet her. His reaction to this did not make a good impression on Swift, at least at first.

Kelce attended the Eras Tour at Arrowhead Stadium, the same stadium that is home to his team, the Kansas City Chiefs. He assumed that as a Chiefs player, he would be able to meet Swift afterward. It did not work out this way, and on an episode of his New Heights podcast, he admitted he was not happy about it. He even threw out the bracelet he made her.

“Yeah, [the bracelet] didn’t leave the stadium because I was butt hurt,” he said.

Swift, who was a guest on the episode, teased Kelce about his reaction. At the time, though, his behavior did not make a good impression on her.

“He threw a tantrum. He threw a man tantrum, it’s so funny,” she said. “This dude didn’t get a meet and greet, and he’s making it everyone’s problem; that’s what I thought at first.”

Swift revealed that Kelce didn’t even contact anyone on her team to set up a meeting.

“He didn’t even reach out to our management,” he said. “He thought because he knew the elevator lady, that he could talk to her about just getting down.”

While his initial impression was not a good one, Swift said that Kelce eventually won her over. His effort to get her attention felt like something out of “an ’80s John Hughes movie.”

“I was like, if this guy isn’t crazy — which is a big if,” she said, “this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.”

They have been together ever since.
